Choosing the right wedding photographer is not an easy task – but hopefully I can make your life a little easier. Here’s what you need to know about me:
Photographers should be seen but not heard. That’s my, slightly plagiarised, philosophy. I’m not one of those photographers who bosses people around and dictates proceedings. I prefer to stay in the background and document the day as it unfolds naturally. Skills acquired over years of photographic experience allows me to adapt to the unique demands of each wedding and produce beautiful images without interfering in your day.
Time isn’t money when you love your job. I never set aside a specific time-frame when it comes to processing photos. I spend as long as it takes to create images that the bride and groom will be 110% delighted with. Much to my girlfriend’s despair, it comes with being a perfectionist.
It’s about personality too. Your wedding photographer will be with you for the whole day so it is important to choose someone you can get on with, that’s why I encourage all potential clients to come for an informal chat before we finalise anything. When the day arrives I can help proceedings run smoothly (I am often called upon as an impromptu usher!), get the formals done quickly and efficiently, and leave you to enjoy your day.
Equipment failure can be costly, but your wedding photographs are priceless. That’s why I’ve made a solid investment in backup gear so that the day that the technology gods turn against me I’ll be ready for it.
Much as I wish it wasn’t, England is a rainy country. Unfortunately, even in the summer months it is necessary to have a backup plan in case the weather isn’t kind to us on the day. Unlike many other photographers, in this scenario I never have to resort to using sub-standard on-camera flash, or worse, having the bridal party standing out in the rain. With portable lighting equipment always on hand, clients can enjoy the luxury of studio-quality shots in the comfort of the venue interior.
A lot of people ask about my equipment. For an artist, it’s not the most important consideration; after all, the camera is merely a tool that allows me to realise my vision. That said, I demand that my equipment offers the ultimate in quality and reliability, so my cameras of choice are a Nikon D3 and Nikon D700 supplemented by the professional range of Nikkor lenses.
Booking a wedding photographer should be simple and straightforward. That’s why I’ve designed a clear pricelist with no hidden extras. If there is anything else you require, we’ll have a chat and work it out together.
