Julie & Shaun’s Medieval Wedding, Kenilworth Castle, 17th June 2010

This was a day I had been looking forward to ever since I first received a call from Shaun back in February and it did not disappoint.

The day began at the Peacock Hotel, Kenilworth, for the groom’s preparations. Ordinarily at this stage I would be with the bride but Shaun and Julie had decided that the groomsmen struggling with armour and chailmail would be much more fun!

Then it was on to Kenilworth Castle where (after of a couple of cheeky swigs from a hip flask to calm the nerves) Shaun was ready to greet his guests.

The ceremony was to take place in the gatehouse.

The castle made a spectacular backdrop for the group photos.

Then it was off to a secluded corner of the grounds for a Handfasting ceremony.

Following the ceremony, a knight approached claiming the rights of Prima Nocta (first night with the newly-married bride). Fighting ensued!

With the evil knight defeated we went for a short walk around the castle before departing for the evening banquet.

John and Gail from Guinevere’s Dream Events had done a sterling job, transforming the venue into an authentic medieval banqueting hall. The attention to detail was astonishing.

The bride and groom were the first to enter and guests were introduced one by one.

In between courses, some of the guests were put on trial.

And finally, a spot of medieval dancing brought an end to a very enjoyable day.

I hope you have enjoyed viewing some examples of Warwickshire wedding photography at Kenilworth Castle. Medieval wedding photography turned out to be extremely fun and I am very much looking forward to photographing my next medieval wedding. It has to be said, I am delighted to be added to the list of Warwickshire wedding photographers lucky enough to photograph a wedding at the enchanting Kenilworth Castle. The castle is a fantastic setting for a wedding and I will definitely be returning to explore more of the grounds on my next trip to Warwickshire. For a Wiltshire wedding photographer it is a fairly long journey but I love to travel, and in fact I shoot weddings all over the UK. My travel costs are very reasonable – please see my pricing page for details.
